For one of my projects I had to create a series of Cinemagraphs and stage them as if they were going to be used in advertisements.
What's a Cinemagraph?
Cinemagraphs are still photographs which one single or multiple objects in the photograph are moving. Cinemagraphs are a unique way to capture and lure the viewer in. Not photo but not video, they are very compelling
The Process
For all of them I had to stage the scene accordingly and have a plan in mind for how I wanted to portray each shot. I had a vision for each, but the trick was executing it.
I took two friends, and on two different days I took each of them out in search of the right angles and the right area to do the filming in. On both occasions I ended up going to the Crystal Mall on one day and the other to the Providence Place Mall. There I found some shops I could showcase and also some areas as well.
The hardest one out of all of them to shoot was the Nike one. Simply because I had my friend shoot the basketball, then run to the basketball pole and shake it as hard as he could, which was sturdier than we thought and after a few shots he was starting to get tired. But we pulled it off in the end.
After I gathered my shots, I went ahead and narrowed them down and edited them on Cinemagraph Pro. I also needed to create a still image with the advertisement wrapped around the shot using PhotoShop. I had to also utilize my typography skills in each of the shots as well to make it more believable that it was an advertisement.
After all the editing this is what I came up with.
